Bormio

The route

The Bormio 360 Adventure Trail is the first high-altitude itinerary that covers the Bormio area 360°.

The route is a closed loop 140 km in length, with an overall height difference of around 6,200 m. It runs along the mountainside above the 5 main villages in the Bormio area (Bormio, Sondalo, Valdidentro, Valdisotto e Valfurva) at an altitude of between 837 and 2,462 m above sea level and can be covered on foot or by mountain bike.

The loop is divided into 10 stages so you can cover just part of it, or divide it up over a few days, staying at mountain refuges or Alpine huts along the route. Each stage has a theme that explores the environmental, historic, cultural and naturalistic features of the area; more information can be found on signposts and totems along the route.

The aim of this project is to highlight the many different faces of this unique area, through fun, sport and contact with nature. It offers a chance to see what life on an Alpine pasture is like, explore places that were once feared as witches’ lairs, breathe the oxygen-rich air of the forests and reach out and touch the waters that flow from the mountainside.
